Costs and Coverage of Community Health Worker-Led Hypertension and Diabetes Screening in Rural Lesotho: A Cohort Study with a Cost-Consequence Analysis

by

This study looked at how community health workers (CHWs) in rural Lesotho helped screen people for high blood pressure and diabetes. Using a tablet-based tool, CHWs screened most of the eligible adults in their communities within six months. Association of clinical signs of possible serious bacterial infections identified by community health workers with mortality of young infants in South Asia: a prospective, observational cohort study

Community-based epilepsy care in an onchocerciasis-endemic area: A 3-year cohort study in Mahenge, Tanzania

by

In Mahenge, Tanzania, a community-based epilepsy care program helped reduce seizures and improve medication adherence among people with epilepsy in a region affected by onchocerciasis. Community health workers screened for epilepsy, distributed antiseizure medications (ASMs), promoted ivermectin use for onchocerciasis, and monitored progress monthly. The program significantly … [Read more...] about Community-based epilepsy care in an onchocerciasis-endemic area: A 3-year cohort study in Mahenge, Tanzania

Improving Access to PMTCT Through the Involvement of Traditional Birth Attendants in Program Activities in the Far North Region of Cameroon: A Retrospective Cohort Study

by

In the Lake Chad basin, most deliveries are assisted by traditional birth attendants (TBAs). This study looked at whether training and involving TBAs in preventing mother-to-child HIV transmission (PMTCT) could improve access to these services. Researchers compared communities with trained TBAs to those without. Mothers in communities with trained TBAs were more likely to get … [Read more...] about Improving Access to PMTCT Through the Involvement of Traditional Birth Attendants in Program Activities in the Far North Region of Cameroon: A Retrospective Cohort Study
