A Library of Resources Dedicated to CHWs
Community Health Workers do so much for others. Now, there’s a space designed to support you.
The CHW Learning Hub was created by colleagues at El Sol to meet a vital need shared by CHWs around the world: a dedicated space for professional growth, peer support, and essential resources. CHWs play a crucial role in advancing health equity and addressing social determinants of health, yet often lack centralized access to training, tools, and connections with fellow CHWs.
This free, bilingual (English and Spanish) resource center offers culturally relevant materials in a variety of formats, including printable tip sheets and guides, interactive games and quizzes, and digital content like blogs and slideshows. It’s a place to build skills, share insights, and stay informed. Through certification programs, peer networks, and practical tools, we aim to support CHWs in strengthening their skills, serving their communities, and advocating with confidence.
Built by CHWs, for CHWs, the Learning Hub reflects real-life experiences and is designed to strengthen community health at every level.
Rethinking Certification: Preserving the Identity and Integrity of Community Health Workers

Community Health Workers (CHWs) and Promotores play a vital role in connecting people to care, resources, and support. Their effectiveness comes from lived experience, cultural understanding, and the trust they build within their communities. While certification may help standardize skills, improve recognition, and create career opportunities, it may also create barriers and shift CHWs away from the relationship-based advocacy that makes their work so valuable.
The certification debate raises an important question: who should decide what makes someone an effective CHW? Because trust, empathy, and community connection cannot be fully measured by formal credentials, many believe communities should have a strong voice in recognizing CHW qualifications. Flexible, community-led training and recognition pathways may offer a way to support CHWs’ growth while preserving their unique identity and grassroots role.
Guess My Role: Discover the Many Roles of Community Health Workers

Guess My Role is a fun, interactive game that challenges players to identify the many roles of CHWs.
In each round, three CHW roles are selected at random. Players receive clues describing the activities associated with each role and must match each clue to the correct role. Each role includes three clues presented through different scenarios.
This educational game helps players learn about the diverse ways CHWs support their communities. It also gives CHWs an opportunity to explore the skills required for different roles and recognize the wide range of responsibilities they may take on in their work.
Every game offers a new experience, making it an engaging way to learn more about CHWs.
