Mark Mwenda is a graduate from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology with a Bachelor of Community Development and Environment. He is a Community Health Promoter (CHP) based in Kenya, serving his community in enhancing preventive and promotive health. He will be supporting CHW Central in research, fundraising, expanding social media outreach and more. In the future, he hopes to continue engaging in initiatives that enhance community resilience to health crises, both locally and internationally. Mark spends most of his spare time volunteering with the Kenya Red Cross Society, supporting humanitarian endeavors.
Reena Dixit is a recent graduate from Boston University School of Public Health with a concentration in community assessment, program design, implementation, and evaluation. She is currently interning at CHW Central and will be maintaining website resources, social media channels, newsletter communications and developing fundraising plans. Reena is currently pursuing a position in public health that will utilize her knowledge in reproductive health, health education and health research. She is looking forward to working with the CHW Central team in expanding resources for community health workers.
Beth Williams is an MPH candidate at Boston University School of Public Health where she is studying Global Health Program Design, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Social Justice and Human Rights. During the summer of 2023, Beth will support CHW Central’s mission through research, fundraising, and social media outreach. In the future, Beth hopes to continue advancing health care as a human right by implementing different health programs and policies that support health system strengthening. In her free time, she loves hiking, reading, and exploring new restaurants.
Arianna Boccardi is an MPH candidate at the Boston University School of Public Health where she is studying global health program design, monitoring and evaluation, and chronic diseases. During the spring of 2023, Arianna will support CHW Central’s mission through research, project maintenance, fundraising, and more. After graduating, Arianna hopes to assist the integration of digital health within the public health sphere. She received a BS in biological sciences at the University of Pittsburgh 2021 and enjoys spending time volunteering, running, and playing with her cat, Silco.
Caroline Eason is an MPH candidate at the Boston University School of Public Health where she is studying Health Communications and Promotion and Chronic Disease. During Fall 2022, Caroline will support CHW Central’s mission through fundraising, social media outreach, and more. After graduating, Caroline hopes to support efforts for equitable food access. She received a BS in health science at Boston University in 2021, and enjoys spending time with her family, including Duncan, her golden retriever.
Manjiri Sahasrabudhe is currently an MPH candidate at Boston University School of Public Health. She will earn her degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and Global Health Program Design, Monitoring and Evaluation. For the summer of 2022, she is interning with CHW Central to support grantmaking and fundraising, expanding and improving CHW Central’s social media outreach, and more. Manjiri is from the San Francisco Bay Area, after graduating from BUSPH, she hopes to support sustainable interventions to underserved communities – both internationally and within her community.
Carly is an MPH candidate at Boston University’s School of Public Health studying Program Management and Global Health. For the Spring 2022 semester, she is interning with CHW Central to improve their social media strategy and outreach, as well as assist in grantmaking and fundraising efforts. Carly concurrently serves as a Teaching Assistant for Global Reproductive and Perinatal Health. After graduating from BUSPH, Carly hopes to focus her efforts towards global sexual health research. She grew up an hour outside of the Boston metro area and received her undergraduate degree from Ithaca College in Public and Community Health. In her free time, you can find Carly skiing, hiking, or trying out Boston’s restaurants.
Andrea Li is an MPH candidate at Boston University’s School of Public Health studying global health and maternal and child health. During Fall 2021, she is interning with CHW Central to support grantmaking and fundraising, as well as expanding their social media outreach by creating a feature series on CHW’s impact in public health. After graduating, she hopes to work on improving access to global maternal and child health resources. Andrea is from Foxboro, MA, and received a BS in public health and a BBA in management from UMass Amherst. In her free time, she loves cooking and spending time with her dog, Allie.
Maria Tjilos is an MPH candidate at Boston University’s School of Public Health where her focuses are Infectious Disease and Community Health. As an intern at CHW Central for Summer 2021, she will support grant writing, fundraising, and social media outreach. After graduating, Maria hopes to elevate community strengths and engage community members to improve health outcomes. Maria grew up in metro Detroit and received her undergraduate degrees in Neuroscience and International Studies from the University of Michigan. In her free time, Maria enjoys exploring new coffee shops and hanging out with her friends and family.
Camille Serelus is an MPH candidate at the Boston University School of Public Health concentrating in Global Health, Program Design, Monitoring and Evaluation. For the Spring 2021 semester, she is interning with CHW Central to support grantmaking, develop fundraising plans, manage social media and more. After graduating from BUSPH, Camille looks forward to continuing the important work of elevating community health workers globally. She is a Boston native and received her undergraduate degree in Human Services from Northeastern University. In her free time, you can find her teaching barre, practicing yoga or spending time with family and friends.
Pat Williams is completing his MPH degree in Healthcare Management at Boston University. He’s working with CHW Central to support regular publishing and grant writing. Pat concurrently serves as a Writing Fellow for PublicHealthPost.org and as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for Leadership and Management for Public Health. He’s in the process of throwing noodles at the wall to start up a consulting business and see which services stick.
Sara Purvis is an MPH candidate at Boston University School of Public Health focusing on Maternal & Child Health and Health Policy & Law. She is currently interning at CHW Central and will be developing fundraising plans, revising social media strategies, and assisting with designing a feature series. After graduating from BUSPH, Sara plans to focus her efforts on sexual health and reproductive justice. She is looking forward to working with the CHW Central team in expanding resources for community health workers.
Sahar Amrin Hossain is a junior at Boston University majoring in Health Science and minoring in Biology. She was a summer 2020 intern with CHW Central, publishing features, drafting resource summaries, and posting news articles. In addition to her love for global health and community health workers, she also enjoys leading community service trips and exploring new places. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science, she aims to enroll in graduate school for a Master of Public Health degree.
Akriti Pandit is a MPH graduate from Boston University School of Public Health. From September to December 2019, she was involved in various tasks and projects; among them, developing the concept for the CHW Voices page was her favorite, allowing her to demonstrate her creativity on a topic she felt passionate about. Akriti currently works at the MA Department of Public Health where she is providing support to the Title V Block Grant Needs Assessment project.
Preetika Banerjee is an MSPH student in the Global Disease Epidemiology and Control Program at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Preetika is currently in Delhi doing her master’s practicum on the Indian Network for Streptococcus pneumoniae and PCV Impact Research (INSPIRE), and working remotely as an intern for CHW Central. During her time with us in the fall of 2019, she worked on a variety of tasks which included website management and content development. Her favorite tasks were involvement in the drafting of resources and key feature articles including “CHWs Addressing Addiction” and “CHWs and Mental Health.”
Marian LaForest is an MPH graduate from Boston University School of Public Health. She interned with CHW Central from February 2018 to May 2018. During her time with us, she worked on website management and locating relevant events and resources. Marian currently works as an Informationist at Columbia University’s Health Sciences Library and it always brings her joy to recommend CHW Central to library patrons.
