Community volunteers can help connect people with palliative care needs to health services, but they often lack the training and confidence to do so. This study found that volunteers and healthcare workers rarely communicate well, and professionals sometimes don’t trust volunteers. Volunteers need better knowledge of care needs and services, as well as stronger communication and observation skills. Training can help volunteers feel more confident and improve teamwork between them and professionals, leading to better care for patients.
