Utilizing Group Model Building to Identify Barriers and Facilitators of Hypertension Management in Primary Health Care, China

by

Authors: Tingting Qin, Xingming Li, Kun Qiao, Xinyuan Bai, Mingyu Gu &Yao Wang

This project used Group Model Building (GMB) to identify barriers and facilitators in managing hypertension in primary health care in China. Fourteen key stakeholders participated in a workshop to plot and discuss factors affecting hypertension management, resulting in the identification of 26 influencing factors. These factors were categorized into three levels: institutional, community health workers (CHWs), and patients. The resulting causal loop diagram (CLD) revealed 5 reinforcing and 4 balancing loops. Key intervention points include building medical communities, implementing family doctor contract services, and boosting CHW motivation. The study provides insights and suggestions to improve hypertension management.
