by

Authors: Courtney Byrd-Williams, Mollie Ewing, E. Lee Rosenthal, Julie Ann St. John, Paige Menking, Floribella Redondo, and Stephanie Sieswerda

The COVID-19 pandemic highlights the crucial role community health workers (CHWs) play in providing equitable healthcare in the United States. This cross-sectional study aimed to understand how COVID-19 impacted CHWs working conditions and training. The authors found training topics such as prevention of COVID-19, the clinical course of COVID-19, vulnerable populations, mental health, and community engagement are needed to improve CHW training and further support their role in the COVID-19 pandemic response.
