This review looked at how community-based mental health workers in East Africa are trained and supported to provide mental health services. It examined 18 studies from five countries and found that training and supervision vary widely, from short workshops to longer programs, with different ways of providing support. These approaches can improve workers’ skills and the care they provide, but many programs lack consistent supervision and long-term support. The study highlights the need for better training, regular supervision, and stronger support for mental health workers to help expand access to care in the region.
