The state of community health information systems in West and Central Africa

October 25, 2019 By

Authors: Scott Russpatrick, Johan Sæbø, Magali Romedenne, and Leslie Dubent

The use of stand-alone community-based reporting systems in developing countries provide insufficient information to key stakeholders and policy makers the information they require. there is a need for community-based reporting systems that feed information directly into centralized, government owned information systems. This article presents the results from a one-week community health information system (CHIS) workshop conducted in 17 Western and Central African countries to gather inputs of CHWs and CHW program stakeholders in identifying the opportunities and constraints to building integrated CHIS data systems.
