This study examined the role of Community Health Workers (CHWs) in newborn referral systems, focusing on their effectiveness, challenges, and potential improvements. CHWs help connect families with healthcare services, particularly for at-risk newborns, in resource-limited settings. Data was collected from 300 records of referrals made by CHWs for newborn care. While challenges like limited resources and cultural barriers were identified, strategies such as better training, community involvement, and adjusting tasks can enhance CHW effectiveness. Strengthening CHWs’ roles in referral systems could help reduce newborn mortality and improve health outcomes.
