This study explored how community health workers (CHWs) can strengthen Somalia’s health system in the face of conflict, disease outbreaks, and limited healthcare services. It found that CHWs have helped improve access to care, supported maternal health services, and played an important role during the COVID-19 response. However, their impact is limited by inconsistent training, weak supervision, and unreliable funding. The study concludes that giving CHWs better support, stable financing, and stronger integration into the national health system could help build a more resilient healthcare system in Somalia.
