The moderating effects of perceived social worth and organizational virtuousness on the relationship between emotional labor, precarious work, and organizational commitment among ASHA workers in India

July 31, 2024 By

Authors: Akbar Jan N, Rajasekhar David, Subramani A K, Sharda Singh, Utkarsh Nigoti

This study looked at how emotional labor and unstable work conditions affect the commitment of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) in India. It also explored how the positive aspects of their work environment and perceived social value might influence this relationship. Analyzing data from 467 ASHA workers, the study found that emotional stress and job instability negatively impact their commitment. However, when ASHA workers felt their work was valued and had a positive work environment, these negative effects were lessened.
