The Midwives’ Roles in Community-Based Stunting Prevention: A Qualitative Study in Primary Health Services

by

Authors: Nastiti Aryudaningrum, Asri Hidayat, Herlin Fitriani Kurniawati

Stunting is a serious issue in many low- and middle-income countries, affecting children’s growth and future potential. This study explored how community midwives in Indonesia help prevent stunting. Through interviews with midwives and other health workers, researchers found that midwives play a key role by monitoring growth, giving nutrition advice, visiting homes, and working with local groups. However, they face challenges like low community involvement and limited awareness about stunting. Strengthening their skills and partnerships can improve stunting prevention efforts and community health.
