Maternal deaths in the U.S. are rising, with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) contributing significantly, especially among patients of color. This study evaluated whether community health workers (CHWs) improve education, satisfaction, and blood pressure monitoring in postpartum patients with HDP. Patients in a hypertension program received education and a blood pressure monitor, and those needing follow-up were contacted by CHWs. Results showed CHWs were well-received across racial groups, improving patient understanding of HDP and encouraging regular blood pressure monitoring. More research is needed to assess the program’s long-term health impacts.
