This study looked at how to increase mammogram rates among nonadherent Chinese American immigrant women. Women were divided into two groups: one attended an in-person small group discussion with community health workers (CHWs) and a culturally relevant video, while the other group received the video by mail. Both groups saw increased mammogram rates, but those who attended the in-person sessions had a higher uptake than those who only watched the video. This suggests that CHWs, through culturally appropriate interventions, can effectively encourage health behaviors and improve outcomes. Future efforts could explore virtual CHW-led sessions to increase participation and further enhance the impact of such interventions.
