The Fundamentals of Health Research training for community health workers: a mixed-methods study

by

Authors: Nicole Wolfe, Andrea Diaz, Brian Do-Golden, Esther Karpilow, Mayra Rubio-Diaz, Michele D Kipke

This program trained community health workers (CHWs) to better understand and talk about health research with their communities. The 12-hour course helped them learn about research basics, ethics, and how to share this information in simple ways. After the training, many CHWs felt more confident and were more likely to support research in their communities. The program helped build trust, increase participation in research, and showed that CHWs can play a key role in connecting communities to research opportunities.
