This article highlights Brazil’s Mais Saúde com Agente program, a large national effort to strengthen and professionalize community health workers through comprehensive training. Since 2024, nearly 300,000 community health workers and disease control agents have received training covering topics such as mental health, oral health, climate change, health equity, and community health. The program also recognized health workers as creators of knowledge by encouraging them to document and share their own experiences. Overall, the initiative showed that investing in the education and skills of community health workers can strengthen the health system, improve community-based care, and increase recognition of the important role these workers play across Brazil.
