The inclusion of CHWs in pandemic response efforts has yet to emerge as a core component of public health responses in the US. Through a mixed-methods case study of New York state’s COVID-19 response, this study highlights specific CHW workforce issues. It recommends appropriate hazard pay, increased supervision, and CHW prioritization.
