The goal of this analysis was to provide evidence about systems capabilities, features, and use of mobile applications by CHWs to increase data visibility, access to data for decision-making, and improved product availability at the last mile. Researchers collected data via two strategies: (1) by conducting an Internet search to assess which mobile applications CHWs use and (2) by carrying out additional in-depth interviews to gather more information on how CHWs use the existing systems and capabilities. Results uncovered that the following applications may benefit CHWs in logistics management and operations in resource-strained environments: cStock, CommCare Supply, OpenSRP, DHIS2, and Logistimo. Key features of these applications were found to include: offline capabilities, android-supported programs, modules for CHWs, open-source access, and interoperability. These findings suggest that mobile tools such as these can help enhance the CHW workforce and strengthen their supply chain management.
