Strategies for effective and efficient delivery of primary health care by village health workers: A scoping review using the Rodgers’ Evolutionary Concept Analysis Framework

by

Authors: Ofhani Munyai, Azwinndini G. Mudau, Ntsieni S. Mashau

Village health workers (VHWs) in Zimbabwe play a vital role in primary healthcare but face challenges addressing new health issues. This study reviewed 52 articles and reports to identify ways to improve their effectiveness. Key factors include creating supportive work environments, involving communities, providing training, and ensuring supervision. With these strategies, VHWs can deliver better and more equitable healthcare. The study also developed a framework to guide improvements in their service delivery.
