Strategic optimisation of the allied health assistant workforce one step at a time: first step, workforce governance

Allied health assistants (AHAs) play an important role in supporting health services in Australia, but challenges remain in using their full potential. Better management and clearer structures are needed to help AHAs work effectively and safely. While some steps have been taken, like new recommendations in Victoria, more action is needed at both state and national levels to fully support and include AHAs in workforce planning.
