In Tanzania, a pilot program introduced a Community Health Worker (CHW)-led HIV treatment club model (CHW-DCM) to enhance care for stable clients on antiretroviral therapy (ART). The study compared CHW-DCM to the standard of care (SoC) in terms of care stability, adherence, and loss to follow-up. Results showed that CHW-DCM clients had better treatment adherence (96.6% vs. 91.9%) and increased stability in care compared to SoC. Risk of loss to follow-up was not increased in CHW-DCM. The findings suggest the potential of CHWs in delivering effective community-based HIV services in Tanzania.
