This study explores how the Northwest Ohio Pathways HUB program impacts stress and mental wellbeing in perinatal mothers. The program connects mothers with community health workers (CHWs) who assess risk factors and link them to appropriate care. A survey of 119 mothers and monthly interviews with 41 mothers showed significant stress reduction and improved feelings of safety and hope after joining the program. The support and guidance provided by CHWs were crucial to these improvements. The study highlights the benefits of CHWs in reducing racial disparities in birth outcomes and suggests the need for better support and funding for CHWs and their programs.
