This study looked at what Community Health Workers (CHWs) in Assiut, Egypt actually do, especially in family planning. All 250 CHWs were women, mostly under 40, and mainly hired by the Ministry of Health. They supported mothers and children with services like health education, pregnancy care, breastfeeding, and family planning. CHWs also helped with health campaigns and noticed problems like chronic illness, poverty, and unemployment in their communities. The study shows CHWs play a key role in improving healthcare, especially in rural areas, and recommends better training and clear job roles to help them do even more.
