Residents’ perspectives on a community health worker-delivered household air pollution prevention programme pilot in Eldoret, Kenya: a qualitative evaluation

by

Authors: Sepeedeh Saleh, Diana Menya, Maureene Ondayo, Noelle Sutton, Edna Sang, Sharon Cherono, Esilaba Anabwani, Nancy Chebichii, Serena Saligari, Daniel Pope, James Mwitari

This study looked at a program in Kenya where community health workers taught households about the dangers of indoor air pollution and how to reduce it. People said the program helped them better understand the risks and take simple steps like improving ventilation, and some were able to switch to cleaner cooking fuels. However, cost remained a major barrier. Overall, the program was seen as useful and has helped guide wider efforts to promote cleaner and safer cooking practices.
