North Dakota does not currently have a system in place to train and certify individuals to serve as Community Health Workers (CHS). The North Dakota (ND) Coordinated Chronic Disease Prevention Program (CCDPP) has designated funds to develop an infrastructure for training and certifying CHWs. Background information, examples of state CHW
programs and related resources were gathered by the Center for Rural Health, in coordination with the Area Health Education Center (AEHC), at The University of Medicine and Health Sciences. This information will be utilized by the ND Department of Health to inform the potential development of a CHW infrastructure in the state.
