Recognizing and Sustaining the Value of Community Health Workers and Promotores

by

Authors: Jim Lloyd, Kathy Moses, and Rachel Davis

Although community health workers/promotores (CHW/Ps) are key to delivering healthcare to underserved communities, there is no standardized certification for CHW/Ps in the United States. To advance professional recognition of CHW/Ps, this report from the Center for Health Care Strategies highlights the value of an accessible certification process, training employers on the certification, and tailoring certification processes to state needs to promote the work of CHW/Ps.
