September 20, 2024 By

Authors: Rotimi Jacob Akinniyi, Hussaini Chiroma Hassan, Abdulrahamon Ishola Ajibola, Dawud Oyedemi Ibrahim, Boluwatife Akinniyi

This study examines cardiovascular health and stress among community health workers in Fika, Yobe State, Nigeria. Although most participants (99.2%) had no diagnosed heart conditions, many reported symptoms related to blood sugar and heart health. Family, health, and life-related stress were linked to higher cardiovascular risk. Specifically, family stress, health stress, and life stress significantly increased the likelihood of higher heart disease risk. The findings highlight the need to address stressors to improve heart health among community health workers, guiding targeted prevention strategies.
