The goal of this paper was to assess the acceptability of the multicomponent intervention, COBRA-BPS, among key stakeholders. COBRA-BPS (Control of Blood Pressure and Risk Attenuation-Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka) is a CHW-led hypertension management program that has demonstrated effectiveness in rural communities in South Asia. Interviews were conducted with CHWs, physicians, and patients, and focused on the following aspects of the program to determine its ‘acceptability’: (i) affective attitude, (ii) burden, (iii) ethicality, (iv) intervention coherence, (v) opportunity cost, (vi) perceived effectiveness, and (vii) self-efficacy. The results indicated acceptability by most stakeholders, suggesting that a national scale-up of the CHW-led COBRA-BPS is likely to be successful in all three countries.
