Physical Activity Knowledge Among US Community Health Workers

by

Authors: Ana Selzer, Andiara Schwingel, Pedro C Hallal, Tracey Smith, Susan Aguiñaga

This study examined how well community health workers in the United States understand physical activity guidelines. Although most said they encourage clients to be active, fewer than half knew the actual guidelines, and many could not identify how much exercise is recommended. Knowledge levels were low across all groups, but those familiar with the guidelines answered more questions correctly. The findings show a clear need for better training so community health workers can give more accurate advice on physical activity.
