Performance of community health workers and associated factors in a rural community in Wakiso district, Uganda

Conducted in rural Uganda, this cross-sectional qualitative study evaluated CHW performance and elements associated with performance among 201 CHWs. . Results indicated that only 19.9% of the CHWs performed well and that 90.3% of CHWs ran out of necessary medication in the 6 months before the study. Furthermore, of the 98.5% of CHWs that stressed the importance of motivation in their line of work, only 45% stated they were motivated.
