This study in Nebraska explored the experiences of community health workers and the challenges and supports that affect their work. Through group discussions with 65 workers, it found that they face many barriers, including language difficulties, lack of transport, financial problems in communities, heavy workloads, unclear job roles, and low pay. At the same time, good communication, teamwork, trust with communities, and flexible work helped them do their jobs better. The workers recommended better funding, clearer roles, stronger staffing, and more training and support. Overall, the study shows that improving working conditions and system support is key to helping community health workers serve communities effectively.
