Pathways to support: a qualitative investigation of community health workers’role in coordinating disability services in India

by

Authors: Lorane Scaria, Rachel Blance-Palmer, Lynette Joubert & Saju Madavanakadu Devassy

This study looked at how community health workers in India, ASHAs and Anganwadi Workers, support people with disabilities and their families. Interviews showed that ASHAs help with connecting families to services and supporting daily needs, while Anganwadi Workers focus on identifying disabilities, referring people to services, and offering emotional support. The two groups often work together on health education, home visits, and public health programs. The study highlights how well these workers can support disability care when they coordinate their efforts.
