This study explores the role of community health workers (CHWs) in six Latin American countries. It highlights their versatile contributions to primary healthcare but also identifies challenges in implementing WHO guidelines. While CHWs play a crucial role in primary healthcare, there are inconsistencies in policy implementation across countries. The study suggests classifying CHWs based on the healthcare access needs of their communities to optimize their effectiveness.
