Job satisfaction among health extension workers (HEWs) in rural Ethiopia affects their ability to provide maternal and child healthcare. This study of 393 HEWs in the Buno Bedele Zone found that 45.5% were satisfied with their jobs. Factors linked to higher satisfaction included access to housing, medical supplies, a good working environment, and support from supervisors. Frequent job transfers were associated with lower satisfaction. More than half of HEWs were dissatisfied, highlighting the need for interventions to improve their motivation and working conditions to enhance healthcare services.
