Nutrition and health status of Anganwadi workers in urban centers of Faridabad district, Haryana, India

by

Authors: Devanshi Kumari, Vandana Garg

In urban centers of the Faridabad district, Haryana, India, this study was conducted on 46 Anganwadi workers (AWWs) to assess their nutritional and health status. The study found that while AWWs have a high level of nutritional knowledge and positive attitudes toward healthy eating, this does not translate into a healthy diet or good health outcomes. A significant portion of the workers were found to be overweight or obese, and nearly 90% had one or more chronic diseases. The research suggests that factors such as heavy workload, inadequate resources, and the challenge of balancing professional and personal life contribute to poor dietary practices and health, despite their knowledge and efforts to eat well.
