This study aimed to enhance CHWs’ social networks and communications with other health professionals. Sixty CHWs were recruited from four provinces in Vietnam and were from communities with high rates of HIV or drug use. During the intervention, Facebook groups were created for each study province, and CHWs were encouraged to share research, treatment and care strategies for HIV, and to disseminate new policies. Following a 6-month study period, researchers found that CHWs who were more active on social media reported better work-related indicators. The results of this study demonstrate how social networks can be used to improve CHW performance.
