This paper explores the use of Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) to help parents involved in the child protection system process past trauma. Parents in these systems often carry their own trauma, which can affect their ability to engage in child protection services. NET is a therapy model that has helped people with severe trauma regain control of their lives, and it has been used successfully by community health workers in settings with limited resources. The paper discusses how NET could be valuable for parents in South Australia’s child protection system, helping them process trauma, improve their parenting, and better engage with child protection services.
