Libye Community Health Country Brief

by

Authors: UNICEF

Libya, with a population of 6.47 million, is facing political instability and is in a transition phase with a provisional government. The country’s healthcare system is centralized, though efforts are underway to decentralize services across 101 municipalities. Since conflicts in 2011 and 2014, Libya’s healthcare system has become fragmented, with weakened service delivery due to limited resources and ongoing instability. While the government acknowledges the need for community health, there is no national framework for it, and community health services mainly rely on NGOs with short-term programs that lack long-term sustainability.
