Despite the success of COVID19 vaccine development globally, Africa continues to face challenges related to COVID19 vaccine distribution. Based on their experience in Kenya, the authors identified crucial latent aspects of communities that can enhance the COVID19 response and vaccine distribution such as community health worker-led community-based healthcare and leveraging youth engagement and social capital. The authors emphasize that these aspects represent an opportunity to advance COVID19 vaccine equity in Africa and minimize the harmful effects of the pandemic.
