The purpose of this study was to evaluate the degree of job satisfaction among rural health extension workers in the Hadiya zone of Southern Ethiopia, as well as associated factors. A facility-based, cross-sectional study was conducted among rural health extension workers from May 30, 2021 to July 2, 2021. Data was gathered utilizing structured interviewer-administered questions and skilled data collectors. Results demonstrated that more than half of the rural health extension workers were satisfied with their jobs. Factors associated with job satisfaction of these workers were support from Keble leaders, on-job training, supportive supervision, and reward or recognition. These findings offer useful insights to inform the development of policies and CHW support structures conducive to ensuring long-term job satisfaction and retention, in Ethiopia and potentially beyond.
