Vaccine hesitancy and disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have impacted global immunization coverage. In India, efforts to address this through community ownership, involving community health workers (CHWs) and local leaders, are limited. Community ownership empowers communities to play a central role in vaccine strategies. This project in India aimed to strengthen CHWs’ role in vaccine uptake, showcasing a participatory approach for improved community vaccine acceptance. The study emphasizes the need for hyper-localized solutions, highlighting the importance of community voices in designing and implementing interventions to address varied vaccination needs and hesitations. Policymakers and organizations should adopt bottom-up strategies to amplify local voices and foster long-term change.
