Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices regarding Soil-Transmitted Helminthiasis among Village Health Volunteers in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Thailand: A Cross-Sectional Study

by

Authors: Udomsak Narkkul, Prasit Na-Ek, Jaranit Kaewkungwal, Chuchard Punsawad

This study sought to determine the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of Village Health Volunteers regarding soil-transmitted helminthiasis in Thailand. A survey was administered to 552 randomly selected VHVs from four subdistricts in southern Thailand. Overall, researchers found that VHVs had inadequate knowledge and practices regarding soil-transmitted helminthiasis, but good attitudes. The results of this study suggest that Thai training programs and health promotion policies may be improved to allow for more comprehensive treatment and education of soil-transmitted helminthiasis.
