Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices of Community Health Workers in Relation to Environmental Health Hazards in the Nelson Mandela Bay

by

Authors: David G. Morton, Mpinane F. Senekane

This study assessed the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of Community Health Workers (CHWs) regarding environmental health hazards in Nelson Mandela Bay (NMB). A questionnaire-based survey involving 110 CHWs revealed moderate knowledge levels and generally positive attitudes toward environmental health hazards. However, significant differences were noted in attitudes and practices among those trained and untrained in environmental health. The findings underscore the need for specific training modules on environmental health for CHWs and further exploration of their role in addressing environmental health issues.
