Job satisfaction, mental health, and workplace well-being of community health workers: a cross-sectional study

by

Authors: Slawa Rokicki, Sang Hee Won, Ngozi Okafor, Karen Farrior, Leslie Kantor

This study looked at how community health workers in New Jersey feel about their jobs and their mental wellbeing. Most CHWs were happy with their supervisors, felt valued, and had strong support from coworkers. However, many were unhappy with pay, workload, and limited chances to grow in their careers. Some reported feeling stressed or emotionally drained, and a small number experienced anxiety, depression, bullying, or discrimination at work. The findings show that while CHWs value their work, better pay, clearer career paths, and healthier work environments are needed.
