In rural India, where tobacco use among pregnant women is prevalent, a study explored the feasibility of task-shifting tobacco cessation support to female Community Health Workers (CHWs) within maternal and child health (MCH) programs. Through interviews and focus groups, stakeholders expressed willingness to integrate cessation interventions into existing MCH services. CHWs understood their role in providing support, while pregnant women were open to receiving it. Anticipated barriers include increased workload for CHWs. The study highlights the potential for integrating cessation support into rural healthcare settings through task-shifting to CHWs, offering insights applicable to similar contexts in South and Southeast Asia.
