This study utilized online surveys and focus group discussions to assess the strengths, limitations, and practices of CHWs in Indiana, USA. Researchers collected nearly 700 survey responses and conducted four focus groups with CHWs and employers from 25 organizations across Indiana. Using the information collected, researchers were able to develop four recommendations for growing and sustaining the state’s CHW workforce. As the demand for CHWs grows globally, this study may inform valuable strategies for expanding and advancing CHW practice.
