Incentives on the motivation and job performance; insights from community health workers in Iran

by

Authors: Maryam Ghasemi, Sareh Shakerian

This study explored what motivates primary health care workers in Tehran. Most participants said financial incentives matter the most, especially having a stable salary topped up with performance rewards. Even so, many felt that non-financial recognition; like being respected, appreciated, and acknowledged for good work, also plays a big role. The findings show that both types of incentives work best together, and motivation strategies should be flexible and shaped by the local economic and cultural context.
