The study assessed the effectiveness of a training model involving case managers and traditional birth attendants (TBAs) to improve HIV care for pregnant women in Nigeria. Three groups of TBAs were compared: one received training only, one received training plus case manager support, and one served as a control. While improvements were seen in HIV testing referrals and retesting rates, the combined approach (training and case manager) showed the most promise, although it did not significantly impact TBAs’ knowledge. Larger studies are recommended to further explore the benefits of case manager support in HIV care linkage for pregnant women.
