This study looked at how a community health worker program called “My Health Map” (MHM) affects healthcare use among older adults in Bukit Batok township. The program included screenings, vaccinations, chronic disease management, and support services for individuals aged 40 and older. Researchers compared 299 participants in the MHM program with a similar group of 299 people not in the program. The results showed that those in the MHM program had significantly fewer visits to the emergency department (16.7% reduction) and hospital admissions (18.4% reduction) after one year. This suggests that the MHM program effectively helps older adults manage their health and reduces their need for emergency care. Community health workers play a vital role in such preventive health programs and should be included in future healthcare initiatives.
