Managing high blood pressure in low-income countries can be difficult. This study in Nepal tested a comprehensive approach using community health workers (CHWs) who made home visits and followed up with healthcare providers. The trial involved 1,252 people with hypertension in Kathmandu, comparing those who received the intervention with those who got usual care. Results showed that blood pressure levels, physical activity, and hypertension knowledge improved more in the intervention group. While some outcomes, like waist-to-hip ratio, worsened, the approach was overall effective, suggesting this model could work in low-resource settings. Larger trials are needed to confirm its potential for broader use.
